The Skimmer Bossman Edition

The Skimmer Bossman Edition is an extreme shallow water fishing skiff that has been designed specifically for the skinny water angler’s experience. It runs & drafts in just 5”. The Skimmer is all fiberglass composite, handmade & light weight. The transom is recessed in back so it does not squat, it has a patented air pressure tunnel vent system that dramatically improves performance & reduces cavitation as is common with other tunnel designs. Tunnel strakes reduce slide to a minimum. The modified V entry hull design along with large reverse chine’s contribute to a smooth dry ride. The beam is a full 84” with walk around gunnels making it a very stable fishing platform. Large casting deck forward & large fishing area aft makes room for multiple anglers. The Skimmer is built in either a 16 ft or 18 ft overall length. The 16 Skimmer is rated for a maximum of 50 hp with GPS speeds of 28 mph with a Suzuki 50 hp. The 18 Skimmer is rated for a maximum of 90 hp and has GPS speeds of 32 mph with a Mercury 60hp 4 stroke high thrust.

A lot of boats advertise running and drafting less than 6″ but put all of your gear a tank of fuel and a full baitwell on board and they turn into sleds. Our boat has ran 5″ with 3 guys, a cooler, full tank, full baitwell, and gear. It jumps on plane, handles chop well, rides extremely dry, and poles through inches. I wouldn’t trade it for any of the big “name” boats. We are very happy with our 18 Talon!! – Trent H.

The Skimmer Talon will get you in to the shallow areas that other boats can’t. It is very roomy, easy to pole & can jump up on a plane in less than 6″ with 3 people and all your gear. I love my boat! –Capt. TJ, Reel Strung Out Charters

One of the best shallow water skiffs in the Mosquito lagoon, it’s stealthy, stable and sexy so enough talking about me! No this skiff is everything you could ask for, it poles through inches of water with ease, runs in three foot following seas with no problem and keeps you dry and safe. I have put this skiff through the ringer from poling in 4″ and 25kts of wind to technical poling through the gauntlet of oysters bars. By far this skiff is the best bang for your buck! Thanks again Bossman Boats for my dream skiff. -– Capt. Bart, Red Talon Chartersfooter_image_both_rot_180_rot_180

I’ve had my 18’ Bossman Skimmer in Mosquito Lagoon, Crystal River and Charlotte Harbor in SW Florida and love the handling and characteristics of the hull. With proper control the boat will manage a choppy Charlotte Harbor and then easily skim over sandbars that are only 4-5 inches deep. I was originally skeptical about the Boca Grande Tower due to stability but my wife talked me into it and she too loves the view and ride. The boat is very stable and we have never felt unsafe at any time, even while chasing Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass this past July.

Thanks for a great boat … it’s the Boss! –Andy I.footer_image_both_rot_180_rot_180

The 18ft Skimmer is a high quality super skinny boat with great stability that makes fishing with 2 or 3 people effortless. It poles easily and handles chop well when moving across open water to favorite backcountry fishing spots. –Jim S.footer_image_both_rot_180_rot_180
